Maxim Zhitinev is to go to Germany for the
next (and we hope that the last) surgery on August 27. Many thanks to Igor, who has handed
the entire required son to Maxim's mother.
6.06.2008 Maxim Zhitinev needs your help
again. An infection developed in the postoperative period, and partial rejection
of the transplanted tissues took place. Therefore, the German surgeons performed
an additional surgery on Maxim's soft tissues in May, and correction of the cartilaginous tissue,
which had earlier been planned for May, had to be postponed till summer. Accordingly,
the family had to spend part of the money on this additional operation. Now
the Zhitinevs are at home, but soon Maxim is to go to Germany again. The doctors
in Munich say that additional payment for Maxim's future surgery will amount to
10-15 thousand euro.
1.04.2008 Maxim Zhitinev with his mother
left for Munich on March 31. He will have his surgery in the nearest few days.
We thank Elena, who transferred the advance sum to the account of the clinic,
and Igor, who handed the money for the flight tickets and daily expenses
in Germany to the boy's mother.
2.02.2008 We again ask you to help Maxim
Zhitinev. After a consultation in November, the German physicians have come
to a decision on the technique of future surgery. It will cost 35,000 euro. Next week,
the boy and his mother are to arrive at the clinic. Let us help Maxim overcome the
consequences of his grave injury.

13.12.2007 A contributor has handed us 8000 euro for examination of
Maxim Zhitinev in Germany.
It happened when our son Maxim was eight. On February 8, 2002, he was hit
by a car on his way to school. His injury was a real shock for our
family. Since then, he has been feeling physical pain, and all our family
is also suffering from moral pain. Besides, it is hard to provide
due treatment to him, because our family is in a difficult financial situation.
Maxim's parents are divorced, and his father doesn't help us at all.
We have spent all we had had to pay for the child's intensive treatment;
we even sold our large apartment and bought a smaller one to find some
extra money.
I want to thank specialists of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital,
who have already performed numerous surgeries on Maxim. But now
he needs another, very expensive surgery, which should be done
abroad. Please help our boy!
Yours respectfully,
Yulia Stepanova,
Maxim's grandmother

The doctor's comment
Maxim Zhitinev, born December 10, 1993, is a patient
of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery.
Diagnosis: Condition after craniocerebral injury (February 2002) with
tissue defect in the left frontal region. Condition after plastic
surgery of frontal bone on the left and defect of superolateral
part of the orbit. Loss of upper left eyelid and lacrimal gland.
Posttraumatic opacity of left eye sclera.
The boy has undergone a number of reconstructive surgeries
on his bones and soft-tissue structures.
Since functioning of the left eye is completely absent and the
superior lacrimal gland is lost, we can consider the
following future therepeutic alternatives: reconstruction
of the upper eyelid with prosthetics of the left eye or
manufacturing of the left epithesis with prosthetics of the
left eye. Treatment can be prodived in Germany, at Klinikum
Innenstadt (Medical Department of Munich University), which is
one of the leading eye clinics in Europe. To choose the
treatment tactics, the boy should undergo consultations
and additional examinations directly at that German clinic.
Their cost, together with the tickets, is about 8000 euro. We
would be happy if you could help this boy in any way.
