Anton Drobov

News

12.03.2009 We have sad news. Anton Drobov died yesterday. He courageously struggled against his disease, patiently and carefully fulfilled all the doctor's recommendations. This way he got an extra year of life, which was filled not only with medical manipulations.
Anton was a loving and dearly loved son, a good and grateful friend, who truly understood the value of friendship. He read a lot, studied and thought. He never felt bored: life is so wonderful and interesting!
Rest in peace, Anton.
Dear readers, please pray for the boy's grieving mother. Her name is Natalia.

19.11.2007 Sad news: Anton Drobov had a relapse after marrow transplantation, and the prognosis is dismal. Please pray for this child and his relatives.

20.06.2007 Only a short time has passed after Anton's transplantation, but the boy already has a WBC count of 1.4. He has even been allowed to leave his sterile isolated ward and to walk along the passages of the Department of Marrow Transplantation.

16.03.2007 Anton Drobov was taken home today for a month's rest. After that, he will arrive at the hospital to have his transplantation.

They have helped

While it is still possible to save my child, I am writing this letter to all kind people. You are my only and last hope.
In 2003, in the city of Tver, my son Anton (11 years old at the time) was diagnosed with lymphocytic leukemia. We had due treatment at the local hospital and then received maintenance therapy for two years. Half a year after we were allowed to cancel it, Anton had a relapse. We were directed from Tver to Moscow, where the physicians diagnosed his condition more precisely: biphenotypic acute leukemia. This diagnosis means that marrow transplantation is inevitable if we want to survive.
There is no related donor. Anton is my only child, and I bring him up all alone. I am just a teacher at a village school, and I will never raise the sum required to pay for a donor. I cannot cope with our trouble all by myself. Your help will be simple invaluable for us.

Yours respectfully,
Natalia Drobova,
Tver region

The doctor's comment

Patient Anton Drobov with biphenotypic acute leukemia, first isolated late medullary relapse, is receiving therapy according to the ALL-BMF-REZ-96 protocol. Remission has been attained after the 1st chemotherapy cycle. Considering the child's diagnosis, he should undergo marrow transplantation during the second clinical and hematological remission. The child has no related donor. It will cost 5000 euro to find an unrelated donor in an international registry.
