Kirill Buidin

News

14.12.2009 Kirill Buidin arrived at the hospital for a check-up. He has grown up a lot. Fortunately, this charming, active and smart boy is now quite like other kids of his age.

3.09.2007 Kirill's condition has stabilized. The physicians have conquered the cytomegalovirus infection, and the graft is functioning fine. The boy will receive out-patient treatment. The total sum for search and activation of an unrelated donor has been paid, and we remove Kirill's story from the first page of our site.

21.06.2007 Bone marrow for Kirill Buidin will soon be delivered from Germany. The boy is already receiving conditioning prior to the transplantation, which will take place on June 27. A donor for the child was found fairly fast, when we had paid only for the search (5000 euro). The fundraising for donor activation (10,000 euro) is not yet over. We rely on you!

They have helped

Kirill Buidin I am Natalia Buidina, inhabitant of the Penza region. Our first child was born a year ago, and we were happy beyond all limits. But problems started since Kirill's birth. His entire life was a nightmare: hospitals, various diagnoses, endless tears at the sight of his pain. And the worst moment was when we learned the final diagnosis: mucopolysaccharidosis type 1. Kirill was seven months old at that time.
This disease means enlarged liver, bone lesions, impaired vision and hearing, painful convulsions, insomnia, and terrible fast death. This will be his destiny.
But there is a way to win. There is hope for further life. It is marrow transplantation.
Now my baby loves the same games, the same toys as other kids. But gradually the changes in his organism are making him lose the ability to move and talk as before. However, no matter what happens to him, he is always glad to see friendship and love.
I can only weep and ask you: please help us, please, dear kind readers! Your compassion is our last hope, because finding a donor for the transplantation requires so much money. We just cannot raise such a sum. I graduated from an academy a year ago, and my husband is a simple worker.
Please respond to our plea! Time presses, and my son needs urgent transplantation, which is the only way to cure him.

Yours respectfully,
Natalia Buidina

The doctor's comment

The Admission Commission of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital (Deputy Head Physician A.A. Bologov, Deputy Head Physician I.B. Bryusova, Head of the Department of Marrow Transplantation E.V. Skorobogatova, Head of the Department of Psychoneurology and Epilepsy E.S. Ilyina, neurologist S.V. Mikhailova) has analyzed the medical documents of Kirill Romanovich Buidin, born February 17, 2006, suffering from type 1 mucopolysaccharidosis (Hurler's syndrome).

It is doubtless that the child needs urgent transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells. Since the child has no HLA-matching related donor, search in an international registry should be performed. If an HLA-matching donor of hematopoietic stem cells is found, the child will be urgently invited to the Department of Marrow Transplantation of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital. Donor search and activation in the Stefan Morsch registry will cost 15,000 euro.
