Dear readers,
I am the mother of Stas (Stanislav) Andryukov. My name is Anna. My dear
child is four years old. When he was just five months of age,
we learned his horrible diagnosis at a local hospital, in the Kemerovo
region. It is a hereditary lesion of the nervous system.
We were admitted to the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital in Moscow
only this year. Physicians at the Department of Psychoneurology told me
that the only way of curing my child is to find a donor and to
perform subsequent marrow transplantation. But I was simply dumbfounded
which I heard the cost of this operation. 15 thousand euro! I have no
such sum. Yes, I have a job, but even my entire yearly income will
not be enough. Please help us in our trouble. And thank you
for your concern in any case.
Yours respectfully,
Stanislav's mother Anna Andryukova

The doctor's comment
Stanislav Andryukov, born 2003, has been a patient
of the Department of Psychoneurology-2 since October 10, 2007.
His diagnosis is Krabbe leukodystrophy, a degenerative disorder
of the nervous system. The only possible method of curing this
disease is allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation,
which should be performed as soon as possible. Now urgent
search for a matching stem cell donor in international registries
is required, after which the patient is to be admitted to
the Department of Marrow Transplantation of the Russian
Children's Clinical Hospital.

News
14.06.2008 Tragic news: Stanislav Andryukov died of
complications after unrelated marrow transplantation. It was his only chance, but, alas, it did not work.
16.01.2008 We have completed the fundraising for
donor search and stem cell harvesting for the treatment of
Stas Andryukov and
Liza Pugacheva. The sum raised
for Liza is 285,405 roubles ($11,649), which is less than
necessary. The sum raised for Stas is 758,650 roubles ($30,965),
including 540,000 roubles ($22,040) transferred by the administration
of the town of Taiga, where the boy lives. The extra money available
for Stas will be readdressed to Liza. The money required for donor
search, that is, 5000 euro for each child, have already been transferred
to the account of the Stefan Morsch Foundation, and search has been
started. The remaining part of the sum (10,000 euro for stem cell
harvesting) will be transferred after the donors are found.
